PA 65 - Cats or Dogs?

Location: Airyglyph City.
Availability: After end of game/ game complete, after PA 63.
Requirements: Must have achieved ending with Albel in party.
Type: Go to Airyglyph City Castle and find Sophia in the courtyard. Speak to her to initiate this PA.




“Fayt,” Sophia edged towards her crush with a sweet smile, standing in the courtyard of the castle in Airyglyph.

Fayt shivered and stepped closer to her for warmth. “What?” he breathed out, watching the air leave his mouth like from a smoking dragon’s.

“Fayt, which do you prefer? Cats, or dogs?” Sophia pointed her finger in the air.

Fayt grinned happily. “Dogs, of course!”

“Whaaat?” Sophia  pouted, annoyed by this. “But cats are so cute!” she prompted.

Fayt stuck his lip out in consideration. “Well, sure, but dogs are stronger- AND smarter. And they’re faithful! I know which one I’d rather have with me on the road,” he beamed.

“Hmph! I bet if you asked everyone, they’d say cats!” Sophia challenged.

“What? Come on, it’s freezing! I’m not going to do something crazy like that-!” Fayt complained.

“Cats are better!” Sophia sang triumphantly.

Fayt frowned back. “Dogs are better!”

“Alright FINE! Go ask everyone then!” she demanded, turning away before he could refuse.

Fayt groaned and walked away dejectedly. Was he really going to go around asking everyone what they thought about cats and dogs? Did she realise how cold it was- or how some people in the party might react to such a question?

He wondered if somewhere, far away, some other poor sap was having to do the exact same thing for an annoying main female character.

He shook his head.
No, it was just his imagination- the cold air.
Still! It would be good to prove her wrong for once.  And so he set off.

Cliff was in the weapon’s shop with Mirage. Fayt entered with confidence, rubbing his hands together and blowing on them as he approached the two Klausians.

“Hey guys,” he greeted them warmly, even if he didn’t feel it.

“What’s up, kid?” Cliff grinned, always pleased to see the bluenette.
“Hello Fayt,” Mirage smiled.

“So, guys, which do you prefer? Cats, or dogs?” Fayt questioned.

Mirage looked to Cliff incredulously.
“Well dogs, obviously,” Cliff replied. “The big fluffy ones!”

Fayt sniggered. “Yeah, they’re pretty cute. Mirage?”

“I’m the same. I like big watch dogs- a partner who has your back,” she was cool.

“I thought so!” Fayt nodded. “Thanks guys!” he waved before leaving the shop.

Maria was sat in the church reading. Fayt sat next to her and cupped his hands.

“Maria, what are you reading?” Fayt peered over at her.

“It’s a book on hymnological genetics,” Maria replied calmly, turning the page.

“Right,” Fayt drummed his fingers, causing her to stop reading. “Oh-! Sorry, I-” Fayt blushed.

“What’s wrong Fayt?” Maria asked, closing her book.

“Well, look, I know you’re a no-nonsense person, but I have to ask you something. Sophia’s making me,” he hung his head in shame.

Maria grinned. “Ah, I see. Go ahead,”

“Thanks. Maria, do you like cats or dogs?” Fayt questioned pensively.

“I understand. Sophia wants you to ask everyone and you want to prove her wrong?” Maria guessed.

“It’s scary when you do that,” Fayt pointed out to her.

“Well I’m sorry Fayt. I too would love to prove her wrong, but as much as her affinity for cats and pink can be annoying, I too prefer cats to dogs,” Maria replied.

“Ugh, why?” Fayt put his head in his hands.

“Well,” Maria faltered, looking to the side. “They’re cute,”

Fayt looked up and grinned at her. “Really?” he smirked.

“Oh, Fayt!” Maria frowned irritably.

“Sorry Maria, alright,” Fayt hid a snigger. “Thanks anyway,” he nodded to her and hurried away, letting her get back to her book.

Who was next? Oh yes, Adray. Fayt was sure about this one too. Adray was pacing about near the aqueducts. He laughed in a friendly manner as he saw Fayt appear from the street below.

“Hello young Master Fayt!”

“Hi Adray,” Fayt jeered back. He liked Adray. At times the man could be creepy, but none the less he was strong and wise.

“A fine morning,” Adray gestured around them.

Fayt’s eyes widened. “Ha, you’re kidding, right? It’s freezing!” he was hugging himself as he said it.

“Oh, but the morning is still a fine one,” Adray waved his finger.

Fayt regarded him fondly and nodded slowly. “Yeah, I guess it is,” he agreed. “Say Adray, can I ask you something?” Fayt began.

“Ah! I’ve been waiting for this!” Adray beamed. “Of course you can marry my Clair!” he went to clap Fayt on the back.

“Wha-! No-no, that’s not what I was going to ask!” Fayt stepped back. “I mean, Clair is really beautiful, but I don’t know her very well and I’m not really old enough to be asking anyone to marry me!” he swallowed hard.

“Haha! Alright then! But my Clair’s not waiting around forever!” Adray informed him.

“O-okay. I’ll remember that. Well, what I was going to ask was whether you like cats or dogs best?” Fayt inquired.

“Oh, well, I’m a cat man personally,” Adray shrugged.

Fayt fell still. “Seriously? Why?” he rubbed the back of his head in confusion and shuddered in the chilly air.

“They don’t let their faithfulness hinder them. They can be very loving and yet they are equally as selfish. When there’s danger they know exactly what to do. Plus,” Adray paused, and Fayt listened intently. “Don’t you think they’re just too darn cute?! Like my Clair!” Adray chortled.

Fayt sweat-dropped.
“Oh, yes sir. Absolutely,” he nodded quietly, walking away.

Well, this was bad. Now dogs and cats had the same number of votes! And there were only two more people to ask! This was cutting it too close. Still, Fayt had to ask, because otherwise Sophia would claim she had won by default and not speak to him for days!
